Accompanying textAllyn Bromley was born in San Francisco in 1928 and received a MFA from the University of Colorado, 1971. She received her BFA from the University of Hawaii where she is a professor. As a child she was fascinated by the epic adventures and accomplishments of Amelia Earhart as the first woman passenger to cross the Atlantic by air and her subsequent solo trips across the Atlantic. Upon moving to Hawaii in 1952, Bromley felt even closer to the mystery of Earhart's disappearance in the South Pacific. Bromley is reminded of Earhart's soaring spirit when standing at her memorial marker on Diamond Head. This print is in homage to the courage and spirit of adventure of both Earhart and her navigator, Fred Noonan.
