Accompanying textRussell Edwin Wee received an associate’s degree from Leeward Community College in 1976 and was a ceramic teacher for 33 years. Innovation was fired at the annual Raku Hoʻolauleʻa 2025, using ferric chloride and tinfoil in the raku kiln to achieve some of the surface detailing. Interested in the relationship between man and machine, this sculpture is part of a body of work where Wee incorporates machine part forms. Innovation includes these details repeating around the top of the vessel.
