Accompanying textKris Goto is a Honolulu-based artist whose work blends her Japanese heritage, global upbringing, and life in Hawaiʻi. Born in Kagoshima and raised in Hong Kong and New Zealand, she moved to Hawaiʻi in 2006, where these cross-cultural experiences shaped her distinct style. Inspired by manga, surf culture, and everyday organic forms, Goto creates small intricate and whimsical pen-and-ink drawings, as well as large-scale paintings and murals. Her artwork invites viewers to pause, smile, and rediscover wonder in the world around them. In Pot Diver the artist depicts a diver character settling into her new terracotta home—still a bit uneasy as she adjusts to the unfamiliar space. Pot Diver – Thrive! takes place three months later, showing the diver fully settled, comfortable, and thriving in her cozy new home.
